One (1) Latex Rubber Ink Sac for Vintage Fountain Pen Restoration and Repair
Our sacs are fresh production from the small-batch California company that took over and revived the ink sac production department of the White Rubber Company -- the leading suppliers of sacs to the pen industry from the 1920s through the 1980s. While other materials have their advantages when there are special requirements, for general usage traditional latex rubber sacs remain the best overall choice. Latex sacs are best attached with shellac sac cement. If you are buying multiple sacs of different sizes, please read our shipping instructions below! If they are not followed, we cannot refund duplicate shipping charges.
Latex sacs are made by dip-molding, so sacs will vary slightly in wall thickness and exterior diameter. Sac sizes are nominal, and indicate that a given sac will easily fit through a hole n/64 inch (1 inch = 25.4 mm) in diameter, "n" being the sac size. For more information on sac material choice please see the Pen Sac Primer on our website. For more sac sizes, materials, and quantity options, see our
other eBay listings
.
NOTE: sacs between #16 and #18 are the most widely used. #16 is typically recommended for most Esterbrooks. #16 tapered is special-purpose, for Eversharp Skylines and Parker squeeze-style converters. #14 and #15 are the usual sizes for smaller and slenderer pens, while large pens such as Parker Duofold Seniors will take sacs from #21 and up.
Sheaffer PFM and thick-barreled Touchdown pens (first-year and Tuckaways) use #17½ necked sacs; #15 is the size for slender Touchdowns, while Snorkels take #14.
Sac size should be determined by what size sac will slip freely into a pen's barrel, and NOT by the size of the section nipple to which the sac is attached (this is a very common error).
Payment
We are glad to combine shipping charges on multiple purchases, but it is vital that the proper checkout method be used. When buying more than one item, use the Add to Cart button -- NOT the Buy It Now button. View your cart when you are ready to complete the purchase, and if the total shipping charge is incorrect, do NOT pay. Instead, click the Request Total link at the top right and we will send you a corrected invoice.
Terms of Sale
We strongly believe in full and explicit description of any condition problems or flaws, and in very conservative grading. We stand behind our descriptions -- buy with confidence.
About Us
vintagepens
is run by David Nishimura (Vintage Pens LLC) based in historic Providence, Rhode Island.
