This Trans AM sold new at Fiehrer Motors in Hamilton, Ohio. It is a fully Documented car with PHS (Pontiac Historical Services) Factory Invoice and Reproduction Window Sticker. It is one of only 2,856 built with a Pontiac Engine. Even less when you factor in the W72 Option. The 1978 Pontiac Trans AM Special Edition cars are hard to come by. Especially when they had a W72 Engine in them from the factory. This engine has been replaced, but they retained the important 6X heads and original Carburetor. They used a 1969 Hi-Nickel content Block in the rebuild, so this is a very nice combination of engine parts retaining the key components that give the W72 the additional HP. This car is loaded with options and will make a very good restoration project. This is a project car, but there is great potential here. These cars sell for very good money once they are done, so they make excellent investments. Be sure and look at the Hi-Resolution photos and see if this is the Trans AM you have been looking for.
This is a consignment car and it did run when a remote fuel source and new battery were used. Tank and fuel lines should be cleaned or may need to be replaced. Obviously this car will need full service and restoration. We don't consider is running driving car, but the bones should be a good core for your restoration. Who knows, on inspection, it might be a good engine as is. Being one of only 2,856 make this car rare and worthy of a restoration. Restored Y82 Special Edition cars sell for very good prices when completed.
