Description

Janis Ian is preparing for a last North American Tour (see her website for information)! After moving and downsizing, most of her memorabilia has gone to the Janis Ian Archives. She's also picked a few items to sell in order to benefit the Pearl Foundation. This is one of those items.
The album
Folk Is the New Black,
while mostly ignored in the United States, received rave reviews in Canada and overseas, and was often referred to as "a warning of things to come." As part of the promotional efforts, slogans were taken from the song titles, and bumper stickers, posters, even mugs were created. The original album artwork was done by Pat Snyder (Janis' wife), who managed to keep back a couple of these mugs for herself. When the two were packing to move recently, Pat found them and decided to make one available to benefit the Pearl Foundation. Original artwork and slogan on one side, with the Rude Girl logo on the other, this was found tucked away in a small bubble wrap envelope, just waiting for the right person to come along. Hey, don't you wish you could start every day telling someone you don't like to "Get folked"?!
Like all other items listed from this account, 100% of the proceeds after eBay fees will go to the Pearl Foundation*.  This is an opportunity for you to get a rare Janis Ian mug and support good works at the same time.
The winner needs to pay for this item within two days of the close of the auction.  It will be shipped within two business days of receiving verification of payment.
Thanks for looking and thanks for your support of Janis and The Pearl Foundation.

The Pearl Foundation (named after Janis Ian's mother, Pearl) is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) public charitable foundation providing scholarships for "returning students". It's
funded solely through donations from fans, friends, complete strangers, and Janis Ian and Patricia Snyder. We don't have board meetings in The Bahamas or pay any salaries; everything but the actual tax preparation and filing fees is donated. Our annual costs have never exceeded ,500 (the cost of tax preparation and filing), and so far we have given away over ,235,500.00
in endowed scholarships.
