Description
This is an original (guaranteed printed BEFORE the concert) poster advertising a concert at the famous Philadelphia venue THE MAIN POINT (where BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and many others played some of their earliest shows.)JOHN DENVER - June 29 - July 3, 1967
In 1965 a then unknown singer/songwriter named John Denver replaced Chad Mitchell, who left to start a solo career) as the lead singer of the Chad Mitchell Trio and they changed the name of the band to The Mitchell Trio. In 1966 original member Joe Frazier left and was replaced and they continued recording and touring. They were booked to play at the Main Point in Bryn Mawr in late June when suddenly right before the shows, the only remaining original member, David Boise, decided to quit. Contractually they were no longer allowed to use the name Mitchell Trio and disbanded. John Denver was the only one that showed up for the shows (the show must go on!) and they offered refunds to those that wanted them. John played what was his first ever solo shows to those that decided to stay (about half the people that bought tickets) according to a firned of mine who stayed and saved this poster.
This original poster measures 7 1/2" x 17 1/2" inches and is in Near Mint condition, a very light handling.
