The origins of the Météore are uncertain, the company was founded in 1916 as Manifacture Parisienne de P.P.R. (Porte Plume Reservoir) by L. Demilly (later general manager) and V. Degen (later administrative director), based in Nanterre, to become La Plume d'Or in 1921. However, it can be excluded that the company descends from Franco -British Manufacturing Pen founded by Charcellay in Paris in 1910, which appears in the Didot-Bottin yearbook there in a different location. La Plume d'Or was still present on the market after the end of the First World War, producing under two own brands, Météore and L. Badois, as well as for third parties. The second brand is linked to the activity of Luis Badois, owner of real patents both on his own and in collaboration with La Plume D'Or.
