VINTAGE GERMAN LEDERHOSEN SET
Vintage men's grey suede leather lederhosen short pants set including pants, suspenders and thick knee socks. Made in Germany, the suspenders feature a wonderful elk plaque on the leather front with acorn accents on each side - I think this is molded plastic. Plaid socks are 22" long - foot is about 9" in length - they are stretchy to accommodate most larger feet. The pants bear the original tag - it is hard to read, but I think it says PALT GRU 106 48 for size - there is also a plastic hanging tag marked WMW and LEDER-BEKLEIDUNG IMMER RICHTIG (I think that translates to LEATHER CLOTHING ALWAYS RIGHT - but that's my high school German, so I'm not positive).
If I lay the pants flat, they are exactly 19" across, so about 40" around the waist. There is a suede ease panel in the back waist band with leather tie for comfort (you know how you feel after a couple Octoberfest beers!). The pant legs are 12" across when laid flat, so will accommodate a 24" thigh - with an ease panel on each leg side for comfort. There are dual buttons on the outside waist should you wish to adjust how the suspenders fit - there is also a typical drop-down vanity front with dual button closure (a small white elastic piece is threaded through the inside button hole and wrapped around the inside button on the each side of the vanity panel - this does not show, nor am I certain it is original as I don't see the purpose).
Trimmed in leather around the leg, pocket edges and even the vanity panel, shorts have a zippered pocket on the back as shown ,with a small knife pocket on the pant side. Condition is very nice with beer spotting that is being amplified by my camera flash - does not detract a bit - the sock edges are a bit stretched, but I think they are still useable. I'm guessing this set dates to the 1970s due to the plastic elk panel - it is well made, durable and perfect for your next Octoberfest party!
